I became a photographer at age 15 when I picked up a camera and tried to figure out what made the magic happen.
The immediate task at the time was to find a way to get paid to take pictures, so when I discovered Randolph Technical Institute (now Community College) in Asheboro, NC, I signed up for the two year course and graduated in 1981. Before the last quarter ended, I applied for a job at a small daily newspaper in Henderson, NC, the Henderson Daily Dispatch, and was hired as their full time photographer.
Sixteen years later, I found myself a new home at the Times-Georgian in Carrollton, GA, as their IT Manager. Now, I’m fortunate enough to also be the photographer for our newest product, West Georgia Living magazine, and I also get to help out with photography for the paper any time I’m needed, in addition to my IT duties.
